Today, as part of the Atlantic Area AIM (USPS Areas Inspiring Mail) meeting, USPS Vice President of Pricing & Costing Sharon Owens presented the below updated price change forecast. The total increase now being forecast for July 2026 is 4.8% — Owens noted that thanks to industry pointing out an error in the last USPS forecast shared recently at the Mailers Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC) meeting, the Density additional rate authority was adjusted lower. The Alliance is proud to say the error was brought to light by our Chief Economist Sandy Glick of SLS Consulting.
Owens cautioned that the forecast will continue to evolve, with CPI adjustments made to reflect inflation, as well as adjustments from discounts and incentives (which to date are not expected to be significant). Lastly, the Density additional rate authority does not get finalized until after the Annual Compliance Determination by the PRC (preliminary information available at end of Dec. 2025).
