Alliance Alert – USPS Governors Appoint David Steiner PMG Effective July 15, 2025

Dear Alliance Members:

 

Late on Friday, July 11, the United States Postal Service filed an official notice with its regulator, the Postal Regulatory Commission. Because the USPS submitted the notice so late in the day, the PRC accepted and posted it today. To wit, the five USPS Governors voted on July 8 to appoint David Steiner as the 76th Postmaster General of the United States, effective July 15, 2025. The notice reads:

Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

As previously reported on a May 12, 2025, Form 8-K, the Governors of the United States Postal Service (“Postal Service”) selected David P. Steiner, age 65, as the 76th Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer of the Postal Service, pending the outcome of necessary background and ethics checks. On July 8, 2025, the Governors voted to formally appoint Mr. Steiner as Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 15, 2025. The Governors additionally voted to approve a relocation bonus for Mr. Steiner of 50% of his annual salary, consistent with the “PMG, DPMG & Other Officer Pay Policy” which was previously disclosed in an October 28, 2020 Form 8-K.
