Alliance Alert–USPS Governor David C. Williams Resigns

May 5, 2020

Dear Members & Sponsors of the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers:

The U.S. Postal Service announced in an 8-K filing dated yesterday that Governor David C. Williams resigned on April 30, 2020.  The filing simply said:

Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

David C. Williams announced his resignation from the Board of Governors effective April 30, 2020. Governor Williams’s term had expired on December 8, 2019, and he had continued to serve as a Governor in a holdover year.

Williams previously had been the Inspector General of the USPS for several years and advocated innovation, efficiency, and entry into new revenue sources.  He was the Governor most experienced with USPS issues.  His resignation comes as a surprise and will surely draw interest in the current heated environment around USPS.

We will keep you posted.
