Alliance Board Elects Southern Poverty Law Center

April 24, 2016

We are happy to announce that the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers at our meeting last week elected a new Board member—the Southern Poverty Law Center.  It’s a coincidence that our Board meeting was in Memphis at ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Memphis also is home of the excellent National Civil Rights Museum, located on the site of the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed on April 4, 1968.

Founded in 1973, the Southern Poverty Law Center is a civil rights organization based in Montgomery, Alabama with a three-prong strategy of fighting hate, teaching tolerance, and seeking justice.  Secondarily, but important to us, the SPLC also is a pioneer in direct mail fundraising.

Representing SPLC on our Board is Cindy Clark, its Director of Development Operations since 2008.  In this role she oversees a team of 23 staff who comprise the direct marketing production department, sustaining member program, donor stewardship, outreach, and gift processing.  Cindy leverages creative print buying strategies to align with the programmatic and fundraising goals.  Cindy has more than 30 years of experience in direct mail and publishing. Before joining SPLC she was at Dream Foundation and Islands Media, both in Santa Barbara, California.
