Congress Adjourns for 2016 Without Postal Reform Legislation

Despite valiant efforts by both the Senate and House oversight committees, no postal reform legislation came to pass in 2016. With the shift in control of the White House, and the resulting Republican control of both the executive and legislative branches, prospects for new postal legislation are very uncertain going into 2017. All eyes will most likely shift to the regulatory review to be led by the Postal Regulatory Commission, as mandated by the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA).
